Methodology

 Immunoassay
Useful for differentiation between acute and chronic hepatitis B infection when used in conjunction with an anti-HBc (IgG and IgM), for diagnosis of acute hepatitis B infection, and for identifying acute hepatitis B virus infection in the “core window” when hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and hepatitis Bs antibody (anti-HBs) are negative.
