Specimen Requirements
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Plasma
Container/Tube: Mint-top (lithium heparin) tube-Heparinized or EDTA plasma is acceptable.
Specimen Volume: 1 mL of plasma
Collection Instructions: Remove plasma from cells within 60 minutes of draw.
Note: 1. Overnight fasting is preferred but not required to avoid excess turbidity due to lipemia.
2. Specimen should be drawn 2 or more weeks after resolution of any acute inflammatory disease.
3. Indicate plasma.
4. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
Serum
Container/Tube: Serum gel tube
Specimen Volume: 1 mL of serum
Collection Instructions: Remove serum from cells within 60 minutes of draw.
