Specimen Requirements

Submit the following specimen.

 

Urine (Males or Females) 

Container/Tube: Clean, dry container with a leakproof cap-Clean-catch specimen is not acceptable.

Specimen Volume: 5 mL to 30 mL of first-portion of voided urine

Collection Instructions: No preservative. Alternatively, urine can be transferred to the Cobas PCR media tubes Urine Sample Packet.

1. Patient should not have urinated for at least 1 hour prior to specimen collection.

2. Label container with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, and type of specimen.

3. Indicate source of specimen.

4. Transport specimen at room temperature.
